About

Biography & approach

Multidisciplinary artist, born in Paris, living in Essaouira, Morocco.

Born in Paris in the 1970s, she studied dance and theatre, then began a career in the media while continuing to paint. Her first exhibition took place in 2004 at the Vivendi gallery, Place des Vosges, Paris.

In 2006, drawn by adventure, she made the radical decision to move to the Philippines. She exhibited in prestigious galleries in Manila, Singapore and Hong Kong. Opening her own furniture design workshop led her to blur the line between art and decoration, and she became a recognised interior decorator.

In 2013 she moved to Yangon, Myanmar. Her artistic vision led her to a new playground: fashion! She co-founded the brand YANGOODS, which became the market leader in fashion accessories and now has 17 stores across the country.

Always mindful of environmental issues, in 2018 she founded “YangonWalls”, a social and philanthropic street-art collective that turned Yangon’s rubbish-filled back alleys into an open-air art gallery. The project transformed downtown neighbourhoods and breathed new life into the community. Street art was forbidden in Burma and no one had ever dared to paint on the walls.

After 18 years immersed in the vibrant cultures of Asia, she was invited to two artist residencies in Portugal. Her latest series, made in Lisbon, marks a break from the collage practice of past decades, in both subject and technique. In October 2025 she settled in Essaouira, Morocco.

“Art changes people, and people change the world.”

Approach

De Lorme’s work belongs to contemporary figurative painting, where visual intensity is meant to provoke reflection on the absurdities of our world. Her large-format canvases, joyfully acidic and loaded with symbols, unfold a universe that acts as an ironic mirror of our society. At the crossroads of narrative figuration and neo-pop, she offers compositions that are seductive on the surface yet deeply critical — inequality, overconsumption, greenwashing and sexism become the motifs of a pictorial narrative in which colour and the energy of the gesture contrast with the gravity of the subjects, inviting viewers to question and project their own associations and interpretations.

Her palette is bold and instantly recognisable — powder pinks, golden yellows, mint green and shades of turquoise. Acidic colours and pastel tones blend; acrylic and grease pencil sometimes cover fragments of collage that show through in plays of transparency, creating visual layers that deepen the texture and let striking words emerge.

Between chromatic vitality and a critical eye, De Lorme’s painting is not merely aesthetic — it is idea and reflection.

« I play visually with a paradox: using materials from the past to depict the present of a frantic world — a nod to the bombardment of images we are subjected to every day, which reflects the chaos of our society — freezing the moment to outwit what was meant to be ephemeral. Different media are juxtaposed, figurative painting becomes the poster; I embrace the confusion. »
« As a child, every time I walked through the village I was fascinated by the walls announcing the arrival of the Bouglione circus. Posters torn by anonymous passers-by revealed political candidates, themselves covered by laundry-detergent ads with shock headlines. Together they turned information into a work of art — a vision that fed my youthful inspiration and that I now see as the origin of my artistic path. Jacques Villeglé and Mimmo Rotella, masters of Nouveau Réalisme, also influenced me. »
